The location you choose for your reception will depend on the feel you want your reception and décor to have, it’s availability, price, and the number of people that will be attending. The most common locations are hotels, restaurants, private clubs, museums, and halls. All normally have the facilities and complete food services available for the reception or a list of Preferred Vendors for you to reference that can meet your needs.
Churches or temples are also possibilities. If you choose to use this type of facility, be sure you know the policy regarding alcoholic beverages and any music restrictions they may have.
Private homes, beach rentals, or gardens are also a popular location for a couple’s reception. If you are planning for an outside ceremony and/or reception however, be sure to have a back up plan that will allow you to move inside if the weather does not cooperate.
Here in the Hampton Roads area, yachts, ships and boats are also available for wedding receptions. Newlyweds setting sail to take the reception party on a cruise is an exciting activity that can be enjoyed by all of your guests and wedding party. Most nautical companies will provide all the food, alcoholic beverages, and service to ensure your day is full of fun!
Also in our area are several mansions and historical sites which can be rented for the ceremony, the reception or both. Whatever you decide, know that the services of a professional banquet facility or caterer can greatly enhance and expedite the planning of your reception
